Red states target lab-grown meat over labeling concerns

Republican lawmakers are advancing legislation in at least a dozen states that would limit sales of lab-grown meat products over concerns that the rapidly growing industry poses a risk to consumer health and the economic well-being of farmers and ranchers.

The Alabama Senate and the Arizona House this month approved measures to ban the sale or manufacture of cell-cultured animal products. A similar bill is winding its way through the Florida House, where the Infrastructure Strategies Committee gave it a vote of confidence on Thursday.
