Red states want to add Medicaid work requirements

States across the country have submitted waiver requests or working toward doing so.

Red states are rushing to introduce Medicaid work requirements, betting that a friendly Trump administration will help them follow through on a policy conservatives have sought for decades.

At least three states — Arkansas, Arizona (mandated to do so by a 2015 law) and Ohio — have submitted or are working on new requests with the federal government for work requirement approvals.
