The top group supporting Republican state legislative candidates across the country says it is preparing to play defense amid a challenging midterm election cycle in which the president’s party usually fares poorly.
In a memo outlining its electoral targets this year, the Republican State Leadership Committee said it expected its counterpart, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, to raise and spend more money in legislative elections.
