Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) vetoed a bill Wednesday that would have imposed new limits on the use of eminent domain for a proposed massive carbon pipeline project, as she seeks to balance landowner rights and support for the ethanol industry.
“I respect both sides of that debate,” Reynolds said in a veto statement. “I’ve consistently said that if eminent domain is used, it must be fair, rare and a last resort.”
