Right to race bills gain traction

Auto tracks are seeking legislative protection from noise-related shutdowns.

Legislation introduced in more than a dozen states this year would protect auto race tracks from being shut down by neighbors fed up with the noise. 

Backers of what are known as right to race bills say the aim is to protect legacy tracks and drag strips from complaints filed by people who move into the area and then decide the track is a nuisance.
