SNAP, mapped: Which states will feel federal cuts the most

Nearly 42 million Americans rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program for food aid in a given month, costing the federal government about $100 billion a year.

The ongoing federal government shutdown threatens those benefits, which averaged about $187 per month in Fiscal Year 2024.
