Social media verdicts prompt calls for further regulation

A pair of back-to-back, multi-million-dollar jury verdicts against social media giants this week is prompting calls for state lawmakers to double down on regulating the industry. 

A jury in New Mexico on Tuesday found that Meta, parent company of Facebook and Instagram, failed to protect children under the state’s consumer protection law and ordered the company to pay $375 million.
