State Medicaid programs adapt amid unwinding of Covid-era protections

A year of massive upheaval for state Medicaid programs during the unwinding of Covid-era protections has resulted in permanent changes in many states, according to a report released Thursday.

While millions of people have experienced coverage disruptions, state Medicaid agencies are emerging with a more streamlined renewal process, improved outreach to eligible populations, and improved coverage for children and pregnant women.
