States explore solutions for barriers to nuclear development

Lawmakers and industry representatives discussed the issue at the NCSL summit.

Lawmakers and industry representatives said states exploring nuclear power must allay concerns over costs and safety, as well as develop a workforce with diverse skills.

Speaking at the National Conference of State Legislatures annual summit, Adam DeMella, global government affairs leader at GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy, said states need engineers of all sorts, but also welders and other tradespeople.
