States move to ban risky, but profitable, prop bets

They are a small fraction of the overall betting market but spark concern from sports leagues.

Lawmakers in Ohio and New Jersey are taking steps to ban certain types of proposition bets over concerns about the addictive potential of more widely available sports gambling.

Earlier this month, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine called on the Ohio Casino Control Commission to remove proposition bets from the list of wagers casinos and online operators can offer.
