States pilot connected car tech to make roads safer

It’s been road-tested in states across the country, as the federal government also pushes to accelerate its adoption.

Multiple states are road-testing devices that allow vehicles to communicate with each other, part of a push to harness technology that can help make streets and highways safer.

Connected vehicle technology, which gives cars the ability to send and receive information about driving conditions and hazards, holds the promise of saving lives, reducing carbon pollution, easing traffic congestion, and improving the performance of autonomous vehicles.
