States plan lawsuits to challenge Trump voting order

The president ordered DHS to compile a list of citizens who are eligible to vote in federal elections.

Legislators and attorneys general vowed to challenge President Trump’s new effort to limit the use of mail-in ballots ahead of November’s election, setting off another legal fight over what opponents called a clear constitutional overreach.

Trump on Tuesday signed an executive order directing the Department of Homeland Security, in partnership with the Social Security Administration, to compile a list of citizens who are eligible to vote in federal elections.
