States seek to regulate smart glasses that record video

Lawmakers in California and Louisiana have taken initial steps to protect privacy in the age of viral video.

The growing popularity of smart glasses and other wearable devices that record video and audio is sparking privacy concerns and prompting the first state-level efforts to regulate the emerging technology.

Lawmakers in California and Louisiana introduced first-of-their-kind bills this year. An increasing number of bills banning personal electronic devices in schools also include specific references to smart glasses.
