Tax measures dominate ballots in Colorado, Texas

Both states require voter approval for certain tax changes.

Colorado voters will consider raising taxes on high earners to fund school meals and support the state’s food stamp program, while Texas voters will consider lowering property tax bills and prohibiting other types of taxes in the state.

Lawmakers referred to next month’s ballots 12 tax-related measures across the two states, reflecting both legislative leaders’ priorities and language in both states’ constitutions requiring voter approval for certain tax changes.
