Teamsters pump the brakes on autonomous vehicle bills

A recent report said self-driving vehicles have driven 360 million miles and completed 21 million robotaxi rides in the United States.

Unionized drivers are beating back legislative efforts to expand the adoption of autonomous vehicles, as the technology becomes more mainstream.

The Teamsters Union this year helped defeat bills that would allow driverless vehicles in Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Oregon, Virginia and Washington. It is currently opposing a proposed AV pilot project in Illinois.
