Tech industry on high alert over Maine privacy proposals

Maine lawmakers are preparing to resume negotiations over a consumer data privacy law that has the potential to go far beyond what other states have adopted.

The debate playing out in one of the nation’s least populous states could have national implications if it produces an alternative legislative model offering greater protections for consumers while placing new obligations on businesses.
