Tech industry sues Texas to overturn youth data privacy law

It was passed in 2023 with bipartisan support.

Two tech industry trade groups are suing to overturn a 2023 Texas law that seeks to keep youth safe online, the latest challenge to state efforts to regulate the internet and social media sites.

The Computer & Communications Industry Association and NetChoice filed a joint lawsuit Tuesday, the same day the U.S. Senate was scheduled to vote on two bills aimed at protecting kids’ online privacy and addressing social media harms.
