Texas advances right-to-repair bill as bipartisan momentum builds

It applies to certain digital electronic equipment such as computers and smartphones.

Texas is poised to join eight other states with consumer right-to-repair laws, as bipartisan support grows to require that companies make the tools and parts needed to fix their equipment available to all.

The bill now heads to Gov. Greg Abbott (R) after the House and Senate approved a conference committee report over the weekend.
