The Texas state House will consider whether to impeach Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) on 20 charges that allege a pattern of misconduct in office meant to benefit a friend and political patron, capping off a tumultuous week in Austin that set Republicans against each other.

In a memo Friday, the House Committee on General Investigating, which approved the articles of impeachment in an unanimous, bipartisan vote, said they would call a resolution of impeachment up for a vote Saturday at 1 p.m. Only a simple majority vote is required to send any impeachment articles to the Senate, which would then hold a trial.
