Health policies states will wrestle with in 2024

Medicaid, workforce and drug costs are among the issues on lawmakers’ agendas.

The end of the federal Covid-19 Public Health Emergency last spring signaled the beginning of a new era for policymakers.

They enter 2024 with new space to address the longstanding flaws in the country’s health care system that were exposed and exacerbated by the pandemic, as well as the unraveling of the emergency benefits provided in response to it.
