Trump signs order to halt state AI regulations

The response from state elected leaders was swift.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday aimed at squelching state efforts to pass and enforce artificial intelligence regulations, delivering a win for the tech industry and potentially stoking a contentious legal fight with states. 

The order targets state laws deemed to run counter to Trump’s policy of promoting the United States’s dominance in AI, threatening federal funding for states that don’t comply.
