Virginia Dems make historic House gains

It marks the first time in 50 years that the party will expand its majority in the swingy chamber.

Virginia Democrats added at least 10 seats to their one-seat House majority, handing the party a sturdier edge for the next legislative session when it will have a state government trifecta. 

Democrats will hold at least 61 seats out of 100, but House Speaker Don Scott (D) told reporters Wednesday he expects the total to grow to 64 when the final outstanding races are called.
