Voting restrictions pass in Texas, fail in Maine

The results illustrate stark partisan divides over trust in elections.

Voters in Texas on Tuesday approved a constitutional amendment banning noncitizen voting, while Maine rejected a sweeping voter identification ballot measure.

The split results on the two election-related measures on state ballots come as President Trump and others on the right have alleged vote-by-mail is “rigged” and that there is widespread voting by noncitizens, despite a lack of evidence.
