Western governors agree to coordinate on transmission grid build-out

They are attempting to counteract the increasing pressure surging electricity demand is placing on aging infrastructure.

A bipartisan group of 11 Western state governors agreed to establish a task force to help accelerate permitting of electricity transmission projects and promote the development of a stronger grid.

In a joint statement this week, the governors said building new and upgrading existing  transmission infrastructure is essential to growing the economy and maintaining energy security in the face of a growing demand for electricity.
