Both parties set up Tuesday’s legislative elections in Virginia as a referendum on Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s (R) first two years in office and a pivot point for his last two.
As one of only a few states voting on state offices, there is national attention on the Old Dominion to provide clues about voters’ mood heading into the 2024 presidential election. It will also greatly affect what Youngkin can accomplish in his remaining time, and potentially alter the political future of someone who’s pondered running for the White House as soon as next year.
