Youngkin calls special session to end budget stalemate

It will take place two months before elections that will determine the majorities in the state House and Senate.

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) is calling legislators back to Richmond next week to pass amendments to the commonwealth’s two-year budget, with the two parties unable to reach an agreement for months.

“To make Virginia more affordable for families and local businesses, we must deliver on our shared goals for more jobs, safer and healthier communities, greater workforce and educational opportunities and much needed tax relief for Virginians,” Youngkin said in a statement.
