Zillow takes fight against private listings to legislatures

Supporters say new laws in several states will help keep the housing market fair and transparent.

Lawmakers in a growing number of states want to prevent real estate agents from sharing home listings with only a select group ahead of the general public.

They are teaming up with real estate agents’ associations and the real estate marketplace Zillow to advance public marketing bills that take aim at a listing trend popularized by Compass, the world’s largest real estate brokerage.
