States move to protect child influencers from exploitation

Montana and Utah this year joined three other states that have enacted laws.

Nearly a century since child actors first received legal protections, state lawmakers are now passing laws to safeguard children who appear in online videos that are monetized.

Five states have enacted so-called vlogger protection laws, including Montana and Utah this year. Illinois was the first state to enact a law in 2023, followed by California and Minnesota last year.
