AI poses threat to electric grid — and could help improve it

States are encouraging its use as they seek to manage increased power demand.

States exploring policies to help ease the strain that artificial intelligence is posing on the nation’s electric grid are turning to a surprising solution: AI itself.

California, Maryland, Virginia, and Texas are four of the states leading the way, with new laws that make use of AI to improve the electric grid.
