Illicit market adds to cannabis industry woes

It affects states with either new or long-established legal markets.

Illegal marijuana sales are contributing to the woes of regulated cannabis businesses that are struggling financially amid a post-Covid sales slump, market glut and competition from new hemp-based THC products.

It is a problem for states with long-established legal cannabis markets as well as where the industry is just getting a foothold, as legalization continues to spread state-by-state.
